Scope of this policy
This Privacy Policy applies when you install, configure, or interact with Gary through Discord, including Gary's commands, conversational AI, image generation, media tools, and voice features. Discord separately controls information collected through its platform under Discord's own privacy policy.
Information Gary processes
Depending on the feature you use, Gary may process:
- Discord user, server, channel, role, and message identifiers.
- Commands, prompts, messages directed to Gary, and limited surrounding conversation needed for context.
- Images, videos, links, filenames, captions, and other media you submit for processing or temporary hosting.
- Text submitted for speech, voice-channel state, and queue information needed for TTS playback.
- Generated responses and images, command usage, rate-limit records, timestamps, and diagnostic logs.
- Basic technical information supplied by Discord or service providers when a request is made.
Gary does not ask for passwords, payment-card details, government identification, or other highly sensitive personal information. Do not submit that information to the app.
How information is used
Information is processed to:
- Respond to commands and provide the feature you requested.
- Generate AI responses, images, speech, media previews, or hosted media links.
- Maintain short-term conversational context and make responses more relevant.
- Enforce cooldowns and usage limits, prevent spam, and protect the service.
- Investigate errors, maintain reliability, and improve Gary's operation.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce Gary's Terms of Service.
Discord and service providers
Gary operates through Discord and uses third-party infrastructure for functions such as AI generation, text-to-speech, search, media retrieval, and hosting. Information needed to complete a request may be transmitted to those providers and processed under their own terms and privacy practices.
Only information reasonably necessary for a requested function is sent. For example, an image prompt may be sent to an image-generation provider, and TTS text may be sent to a speech provider.
Data retention
Gary keeps information only for as long as reasonably needed to operate the relevant feature, enforce limits, maintain security, resolve errors, or meet legal obligations. Temporary media and cached message information are intended to expire and are not permanent storage. Operational logs and limited usage records may be retained longer when necessary for reliability or abuse prevention.
Backups and provider systems may retain information for a limited period after it is removed from Gary's active systems. Retention practices may change as features and providers change.
Security
Reasonable technical and organizational measures are used to protect Gary and the information it processes. However, no online service, network transmission, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. You are responsible for limiting sensitive information and configuring server permissions appropriately.
Your choices and requests
You can stop most processing by not using Gary, removing your personal installation, or asking a server administrator to remove the app. You may request information about, correction of, or deletion of data associated with you when applicable. Some identifiers or records may be retained where required for security, abuse prevention, legal compliance, or operation of the service.
Requests should include your Discord user ID and enough context to locate the relevant data. Never include your Discord password or authentication token.
Children's privacy
Gary is not intended for anyone below Discord's minimum permitted age. Gary's operator does not knowingly collect personal information from children who are not permitted to use Discord. If you believe such information has been submitted, contact the operator so it can be reviewed and removed where appropriate.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when Gary's features, providers, or legal obligations change. The effective date and version at the top of this page will be revised when an updated policy is published.
